Jewish cemetery in the Old Jewish Quarter of Prague…why are all the head stones jumbled together? Well in the 15th century, the non Jewish part of the community were pretty racist against Jews, and wouldn’t let them have any more space in the city to bury their dead. So…what could the Jewish community do? They added another layer of soil, and then buried more people on top.
The numbers of grave stones and numbers of people buried there are uncertain. Because there are layers of tombs. However, it has been estimated that there are approximately 12,000 tombstones presently visible, and there may be as many as 100,000 burials in all.

Lugar mais triste que já pisei na vida.
